- Prior to the birth of my twin daughters, number four and five of the yard apes I had the privilege of raising, I was a freelance graphic artist and full time print layout artist for International Minute Press out of Raleigh, North Carolina. I designed the layout and fine-tuned the content of advertising brochures and packets, as well as illustration, and the everyday tools of business; letterheads, business cards and related materials. This all prior to the advent of the computer graphics age.
I then enjoyed being a sales promotion representative for International Paper Company as a liaison between the paperhouse and advertising agencies and was a member of the Raleigh Durham Ad Club of North Carolina. My main goal was to promote the fine paper line which often entailed mock ups and dummy brochures in order to give the potential customers a concrete sample of how the stock could and would serve their needs. The position definitely required public relations skills.
I have always been drawn to print media in some fashion.
I am an avid reader of varied genre from the historical to fictional. Some of my most enjoyable reads include the works of Ken Follet, Clive Cussler, and the incurable Stephen King. I glean a great deal of enjoyment and influence in the style of these notables and their passion for the pen.
A favorite of mine that I could pick up time and time again is Ken Follet's "Pillars of the Earth." It is a saga with such a deliciously fertile plot that draws you in, forces you to love, hate and even loath, the characters around who the rich story revolves. It possesses a smooth addictive flow of events that makes the book impossible to put down. I would recommend his novel "A Dangerous Fortune" as an equally enjoyable read.
As to my writing, other than those days in years past, I have mostly blogged my poems, short stories, and opinions on a number of sites geared toward social interaction and received the proverbial pats on the back and grateful ego strokes. The experience got me thinking that if I do love to write, and it seems to have a marked impression on those who wander through my words, then why not take the challenge on as a viable career?
Reading serves to wet my whistle and entice me to pluck away at an idea or two of my own. Writing, good writing, is like painting a picture with the brush strokes of words.
For me, this is a calling. I am driven by the passion to make an impact on someone else's life in some small or, preferably, magnificent way. It's a thirst I can't deny nor can I sate.
I am an artist. I am a writer. I am a mind just waiting to be tapped to it's fullest.

"Older" is a relative term
I recently began to notice a trend of younger men being attracted to older women. We won't discuss how I noticed this specifically. (chuckles to herself)

The Feel of Words
Welcome here where tales abound
Of maidens fair and gentlemen,
A journey wandered now and then.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I think that restaurant on Ramsey street has closed. Fayettenam has been undergoing alot of changes these days. More and more oriental restaurants popping up. So far the best is Swaddee in Spring Lake and Main Garden on Raeford road. :) Cheers
