- Hi, My name is Pam - I'm a Writer/Photographer who pays the bills by writing for a press office. Not a bad gig - they pay the bills, but writing press releases all day gets (yawn) a little redundant.
So, in order to keep myself happy I write other stuff and shoot lots of pictures for fun and occasionally, even make a buck.
Over the years, I've raised two really wonderful boys and stayed married.
I have also done about a million jobs in my lifetime. I have sold sweepers, owned and operated a kite shoppe, dressed in various costumes and delivered balloons (my favorite was a gorilla, of course the lady of the evening had certain benefits).
The year after I lost my dad, my best friend Bob and my dog Castle within a few months of one another, I decided I needed to go back to school and get a different degree - yep I was that adult student you've heard stories about. This was when the words began to flow.
I graduated at the age of 41 with a minor in English and a degree in Communications and Broadcasting. I worked for a TV station, as a photographer/writer, and a radio station as a disc jockey (Kate in the morning) doing morning drive.
That kind of brings us to current day - although I really miss the rush I got chasing a fire truck, or meeting all the interesting people on a daily basis, my current gig gives me lots better hours - and that's important when you have a family. I look forward to becoming a part of this community.

A self indulged rant
You know it wasn't even like I said things wrong. I think the whole problem was that the person with whom I was speaking just didn't want to hear anything I said. Africa ... yikes...
...yeah, our life has had its "kicks," sometimes in the teeth, sometimes the way you mean (smile) ... but even when it's been in the teeth, it's been in the teeth in some wonderful places ... same with the good "kicks"...
...and we just got back from the desert and 4 nights of Perseid meteors. Twas grand. The whole get-away was grand: peace and quiet, introspection, a swimming pool, dinners on the patio while jazz and Pink Floyd played quietly, and the starry sky ... lord, the starry sky...
...but we're back in the saddle, but that's only for twov weeks. We're off to Africa for two weeks, leavin' the 30th!!!
