Thanks for the Intro, I used to read books a lot. Something drastic happened in my life that eroded my long-term concentration on reading. I still do try and read yet I am not as attached to reading as I once was.
Interesting stuff, Kate. Thanks for your welcome. My book, The Red Terrors, is the story of a championship high school football team in Georgia in 1964 (No, not Texas). It is a true story, and while the football season is the central theme, the book explores much more: such as events that were starting to reshape the world as it was known in the early- to mid-1960s. My website http:www.theredterrors.com contains excerpts and comments from readers. Please check it out. I have been successful in marketing the book in a small area but would like to broaden my reader base. Does anyone know of a good literary agent whom may be interested in taking on an unknown writer.
I do have experience, having been a newspaper reporter and editor for 35 years until my retirement in 2006.
Thanks so much for the kind words and offer to assist. I've been super busy at work and had a hectic week so I haven't even had time to get on here and explore. I am teaching a class and it ends in two weeks so I am also in final crunch for that. When it is over, I plan to get on here and do some writing and I will check out your blog. Do keep in touch; it's nice to "meet" you. Happy Holidays!
Hi, Kate. Thanks for the message. I am still figuring Oasis out. It looks promising for freelance opps, but I haven't gotten a feel for how else I could use it. Any advice is appreciated!
Loved your connection of the last book review about loving the author's style and made you run out and get every one of her books. That's a great reader experience for sure! I recently had that with Jodi Picoult, although I know she's pretty commercial but I'm trying to get a feel for what's on the market that people like, what I like, etc.
How do you use Sunoasis?
Thank you for the cordial welcome. This is an interesting site. I"ve been a newspaper reporter for a small (5,000 circulation) daily and successfully submitted an essay for Funny Times, a humor and liberal opinion magazine. Both were several years ago. When I found this site I decided to give writing another try. Any advice you have would be most welcome. I look forward to reading your book reviews and talking shop with you. Encouragement is a writer's fillet mignon!
